So many former players coach at the youth level and don't take the time to learn how to teach the basics.  The AVCSS Sports Club site provides great ideas and drills to really teach the game. It also provides parents with thoughts on being a fan of youth sports. Keep up the good work!

TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR VIDEO FILES / HANDOUTS:
Having trouble opening the video files or handout files?  Read the information below to see if it will solve any of your concerns?
First and Foremost – Please do not feel intimidated by all this video / flash file information.  It’s actually easier than it appears.

Videos
The video files used on this website are flash files.  Flash files are utilized on websites because they are smaller in size and will save space on websites.  The files on this website can be viewed on Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player (which is a  standard flash player, and currently installed on over 95% of all PC’s made).

How do you know if Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player is installed on your PC?  Click here for more Info...

  1. Click on the “start” button (bottom left of your computer screen)
  2. Scroll over and Select “Control Panel”
  3. Click on “Add or Remove” programs
  4. Using the up / down arrows (right hand side of the page), scroll down the page until you locate “Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player 8” (or 9.0 - versions change frequently).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not perform any other action other than scroll up and down on the Add / Remove programs page.  You only need to acknowledge that Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player is currently on your PC or not - do not select any of the programs or change anything on this page!

If by chance you do not have Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player use the enclosed link to download
Just follow the instructions - It’s easy and fast to download (sometimes 20 seconds or less, sometimes a little longer).  You may have to restart your PC for the changes to take affect.

Handouts
The handouts used on this website are either Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) or PDF files (Adobe reader).  All Microsoft Office Word and Excel files were created on Microsoft Office 2003, but these files will open on all versions of Microsoft Office.  Your PC must have Adobe PDF Reader (6.0 or higher) installed on it to open the PDF files.

It is very likely that your PC or Laptop will have Adobe PDF Reader already installed on it. If by chance you do not have Adobe PDF Reader on your PC or Laptop use the enclosed link to download.  Adobe is up to version 9.0 at this time, but these types of software changes frequently.  CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD ADOBE PDF READER
Just follow the instructions - It's easy to download (you may have to restart your PC for the changes to take affect).

Other Technical Possibilities:

If you should encounter a problem viewing the video files on this website, this is most likely due to one of these two things:
1. Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player is not currently installed on your PC or Laptop (this is covered above).
2. There could be a conflict with one of your other programs on your PC or Laptop that is superseding Macromedia's (Adobe's) resources for playback of Flash Files.

Real - Life Example:

Problem:
Customer has a PC and a Laptop.  The Videos played on fine on the PC, but not on the Laptop.

Troubleshooting Suggestions:
a) Customer was asked to check the Laptop to see if Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player was installed - it was found that the Laptop did in fact have Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player installed.
b) Customer was then asked to check if another program was "conflicting" with Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player.

Solution:  The customer removed a program (a copy of a certain company's DSL software) that was not being used or needed on the Laptop (this unused program was keeping the Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player from executing). Once this program was removed, the Laptop was restarted and Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player worked fine.

Note: The example above really occurred and fixed the problem.  This type of problem can be quite common (and can be caused by any program - in this case it was a DSL software program being installed improperly on the Laptop by the customer).

* This type of example was presented only to give customers an idea of what to look for when trying to figure out why Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player is not working correctly on their PC or Laptop.
